Among them, EN 45545 EU rail transit fire protection standard was officially released in 2013 and revised in 2015. It has officially replaced the German standard DIN 5510-2, British standard BS 6853, French standard NF F16-101, etc., and has become mandatory in European countries. The new rail transit fire protection standard, EN 45545 standard has also been widely used in China and Southeast Asia.

Part 2 of EN 45545, EN 45545-2, is the most commonly used core fire protection standard in the EN45545 series of standards. This standard is a test for a single material.
According to the end use of the material, the EN45545-2 standard divides a total of 26 different categories R1-R26. According to the degree of risk of vehicle operation, the EN45545-2 standard divides a total of 3 fire risk levels, HL1, HL2, and HL3.
The main purpose of the new EN45545-2 standard is to formulate rules related to the selection of materials based on the combustion performance, heat release, smoke density and smoke toxicity of the materials.
