Information Express | EU proposes to add PFHxS to POPs regulations

      Author:中認聯科 time:2023-02-27 Ctr:1238

On February 9, 2023, the EU launched a one-month public review of the revised draft POPs regulation, which aims to add PFHxS to Part A of Annex I to the POPs regulation. All stakeholders can submit comments within the review period. If the draft is approved, it will take effect 20 days after the publication of the EU Official Gazette, and the number of banned/restricted substances in POPs will also increase from 28 to 29.

      This revision is as follows:

      About POPs

Persistent organic pollutants (POPs), referred to as POPs, refer to organic chemicals synthesized by humans that can persist in the environment, have a long half-life, accumulate through the food web, and have adverse effects on human health and the environment. They can cross international boundaries through air, water or migratory species to reach areas where they have never been produced or used (such as migrating from Asia to the South Pole). Therefore, global risk management is necessary because no region can manage the risks brought by these substances alone.

The EU POPs regulation is the EU regulation on persistent organic pollutants. The regulation number is (EU) 2019/1021. The controlled substances are persistent organic pollutants. The purpose of this regulation is to eliminate or prohibit the production, sale and use of persistent organic pollutants (POPs) in the Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants in the EU as soon as possible, so as to protect human beings and the environment from the hazards of persistent organic pollutants, and reduce the emissions of such substances in the environment as much as possible.

      Warm tips

The elimination and elimination of persistent organic pollutants has always been the focus of global attention, and the EU's enforcement of such substances has also been strengthened. ZRLK recommends that relevant enterprises pay close attention to the dynamics of laws and regulations at all times, develop enterprise control measures, and reduce the economic losses caused by products violating POPs laws and regulations. Our company has a wide range of testing fields and a professional and efficient service team, which can help enterprises evaluate the special chemical substances regulated in the products, so that your products meet the corresponding national and international organization standards.
