Recently, IECEE published the program document OD-2037 Edition 4.3 of CB certificate issuing rules in official website, which updated the relevant rules of cross-product category, product model naming and product built-in software package involved in CB certificate.

Important Update of OD-2037 Edition 4.3
★6.3 Only one CB certificate is allowed for products across different product categories, and multiple product standards and reports involved only need to be listed on the same certificate, such as power supply.
★8.4 For different hardware and software products, each different product configuration must have a unique model name.
★10.1 A separate CB certificate may be issued for products in the following cases: independent software packages (such as software libraries and software used in programmable IC and ASIC) aimed at providing product safety measures according to Appendix H (Article H.11.12) of IEC 60730-1. If the specified software package is used for the final product application, the certificate shall state that the software package must be additionally evaluated according to the relevant final product requirements, such as IEC 60335-1 and household appliance program file OD-2045.
According to this program document, the rules for issuing CB certification will be stricter.
1. For cross-product categories, the new rules require applicants to clearly fill in the product category, model and name, as well as relevant technical specifications and parameters in the application form.
2. For product model naming, the new rules require applicants to provide the complete model and name of the product, so as to accurately identify the types and specifications of the product.
3. For the built-in software package, the new rules require the applicant to provide the detailed information of the software package and relevant supporting documents to ensure the safety and reliability of the product.
In addition to the above updates, the program file also stipulates the application process and certification institution of CB certification.
According to the program document, applicants can choose to apply through third-party certification institutions, which can provide complete certification solutions, including writing technical documents, organizing product testing, and assisting in communication with CB laboratories.
