Indonesia's new regulations | From June 2, 2025, audio and video products will be forced to implement the new standard SNI IEC 62368-1:2014

On November 13th, 2024, the Ministry of Industry (MoI) of Indonesia promulgated the Law No.75/2024, which made it mandatory that all audio and video products sold in Indonesia (both imported and locally produced) must comply with the SNI IEC 62368-1:2014 standard, replacing the previous Law No.15 in 2018. The new regulations will come into effect on June 2, 2025, aiming at improving product quality, ensuring consumer safety and health, and enhancing the international competitiveness of Indonesia's audio-visual industry.

Scope of application and product categories of the new regulations

The new regulations apply to audio and video products: AC single-phase or DC power supply equipment with rated power supply voltage not exceeding 250V.

The specific product categories are as follows:

SNI authentication mode and process

Certification mode: product type inspection+initial factory review+supervision after certification.

1. Number of conventional test prototypes: at least 5 samples of one model for each brand and each series;

2. The factory audit shall be supervised and audited every year according to the requirements of ISO9001;

Certification process: data declaration → factory audit → sample inspection → certificate review → certificate issuance → product affixed with SNI mark.

Importance of applying for SNI certification for audio and video products

1. Mandatory requirements by law

Since June 2, 2025, the new regulations of Indonesian Ministry of Industry (Permenperin No.75/2024) clearly require that all audio and video equipment must pass the SNI certification, which conforms to the SNI IEC 62368-1:2014 standard and replaces the old regulations. Products that fail to pass the certification will not be able to enter the Indonesian market, and even face the risk of customs detention.
