On March 7, 2025, the Canadian Ministry of Innovation, Science and Economic Development (ISED) launched a public consultation on the technical and operational requirements of millimeter wave band, and stakeholders can submit their opinions before May 30, 2025.
Scope of application of public consultation
1. ISED Radio Standard Specification (RSS-193 1st Edition)
★ Suitable for flexible use of broadband equipment in the frequency band of 27.5-28.35 GHz.
★ specifies the certification requirements for flexible broadband equipment used in fixed and/or mobile services, which is applicable to the frequency band of 27.5-28.35 GHz.
2. ISED Radio Standard Specification (RSS-102.IPD.MEAS 2nd Edition)
Evaluation and measurement procedure of incident power density (IPD)
★ Expand the frequency range to cover all portable devices operating in the frequency band from 6GHz to 300GHz.
★ Meet the latest requirements of hand exposure during voice calls.
★ Reference standard update: update from IEC TR 63170 to IEC/IEEE 63195-1.
★ Provide preliminary guidance on time average incident power density.
3. ISED Radio Standard Specification (RSS-102.IPD.MEAS 2nd Edition)
Simulation program of incident power density (IPD) evaluation
★ Meet the new frequency expansion requirements, covering all portable devices in the frequency band from 6GHz to 300GHz.
★ Update the reference standard of IEC/IEEE 63195-2 evaluation requirements.
4. ISED standard radio system planning (SRSP-522 1st edition)
★ Applicable to the technical requirements of fixed and/or mobile systems and licensing systems in non-competitive areas (including flexible use of broadband systems).
★ The new standard specifies the minimum technical requirements for the non-competitive area licensing system in the frequency band of 27.5-28.35 GHz, which is applicable to the fixed and mobile systems in this frequency band, including the flexible use of broadband systems.
